NEWS: 准女环保大使上性别平等课程

*Bahasa Melayu version here 威省市政局21世纪地方议程辖下的卓越女性工作队周六在北海Ixora酒店举办女环保大使工作坊,参加者除了可以增进环保和其他相关课题的知识之外,也上了由沈志强市议员主讲的性别平等课程,以确保她们在推动社区活动中成为更全面的领袖。 在课程中,沈志强通过分析性与性别的概念来解释为什么性别歧视会发生,加上社会对性别的刻板印象,女性常被视为不适合当领袖或成为决策者。他提醒参加者,这些对女性的刻板印象是时候要被改变了。 沈志强也提出了几个问题让参加者从中思考女性所面对的挑战。 (一)女性占据马来西亚一半的人口,但却只有10%的女国会议员。 (二)我国的发展计划是否确实有照顾到女性的需求,为何国家可以花费数亿发展足球运动,却没有拨款设立足够的托儿所。 (三)我国的经济政策没有承认母亲和家庭主妇对国家经济的贡献。中央政府必须强制替她们缴纳公积金和社会保险金,尤其是来自低收入家庭的家庭主妇。 (四)在国家安全政策中,政府拨款几十亿来购买潜水艇,但女性的安全却没有被重视。在2009年,每天平均有11个女性成为强奸案的受害者。 50名来自不同背景的女性在工作坊中积极参与讨论,也将在不久的将来在各自的社区推动环保运动,确保槟城成为一个更干净、更绿化的州属。
